Maurice Genevoix (1890–1980) was a French writer and soldier, best known for his vivid accounts of World War I and his deep connection to nature. His works also celebrated rural life, particularly the Loire region where he grew up, blending realism and poetic prose. Elected to the Académie Française in 1946, Genevoix played a key role in preserving France’s literary heritage. In 2020, he was honoured with a burial at the Panthéon, recognising his contributions to literature and his commemoration of fallen soldiers.
