Domaine de la Noblaie
When we came to the region, this was one of the first winemakers I visited based on local recommendations and I was not disappointed. Nestled among the rolling vineyards of the Loire Valley, Domaine de la Noblaie is a fantastic stop for visitors exploring the Chinon wine region. It is just a few minutes from the historic town of Chinon so can easily be combined with a visit of the medieval fortress of Chinon in a day of historical as well as wine discovery.
The first thing as you cross the courtyard once through the front gate is a lovely picnic table where you can sit and snack with a gorgeous view over the beautiful vineyards of the domaine whilst waiting for your wine-tasting. There is also a great kilometre-long stroll through the surrounding vineyards where you can learn all about the vines, take in the wondeerful views as well as the cellars dug out of the limestone the region is so famous for.
Now to the wines – the family-run estate, committed to organic winemaking, has a selection of red wines using the Cabernet Franc grape and whites with Chenin as well as a rosé and a sparkling white. Whether you want something light and fruity or deeper more powerful wines, you will not be disappointed.
